Scaling impact with practical guidance
At ScaleChanger, we’re convinced that successful scaling requires the right methodology, appropriate resources and a supportive ecosystem.
Over the last few weeks, three updates have reflected this momentum: the release of the Scalomètre, a ground-breaking study that is already generating strong interest ; the publication of the Scaling Catalyst Guide, designed to strengthen the capacities of support organisations. Finally, we are recruiting a new team member to support our continued growth.
The Scalometer: a study that is already resonating strongly and making an impact
The Scalometer was designed to address a simple need: to better understand the realities of scaling and provide useful guidance and benchmarks for associations, funders and support organisations.
The response has already been very strong. Within just a few days, the study has been downloaded more than 500 times. This confirms the sector’s interest in content that is practical, accessible and rooted in real-world experience.
The initial feedbacks have been especially encouraging. One sector professional pointed out that after 10 years of piloting studies, she had rarely seen such a practical and well-crafted publication. She pointed to its relevance on very concrete topics such as : governance, human resources, funding fof support functions, leadership, internal communication and appropriate tools. More than a study, she sees it as a genuine guide to a successful scaling.
One association also shared with us a striking reaction: knowing that this type of publication exists, and that it is also circulating among funders, can reassure organisations that sometimes struggle to communocate the realities they face.
Beyond the publication itself, this study has already been presented and discussed in serveral settings, both with associations and with funders. It has already been, or will be, shared within the communities of our partners, the Bellon Foundation, Fondation Entreprendre, Degroof Petercam Foundation, Bettencourt Schueller Foundation, as well as the Indosuez Foundation and Grantmakers. These conversations confirm the value of shared tools to better align support and funding practices.
The study is also helping to shift certain practices. For instance, one funder said they had changed their approach to multi-year unrestricted funding rather than earmarked funding.
If you haven’t yet discovered the study, it’s still available on our website (currently only in French, but hopefully soon in English)!
The Scaling Catalyst Guide: a guide to designing scaling support
Another recent publication is the Scaling Catalyst Guide.
This guide is designed for organisations that support impact-driven ventures and initiatives.
Its objective is clear: to share benchmarks, insights, methods and tools that can help strengthen support for scaling dynamics.
It highlights the conditions needed to strengthen long term support and offers practical lessons drawn from a wide range of support initiatives in Europe, to better equip the support organisations, such as incubators and accelerators.
In addition, coaching sessions may be offered to organisations that would like help in designing their own appraoch to support scaling. This is a way to go further than simply making a guide available, and to open a space for reflection for those who want to rethink their practices.
Together this guide and the Scalometer are complementary: one sheds light on the needs and field realities of scaling, while the other helps structure the support organisations that makes scaling possible.
