IMPACT STORY – The Orange Corners Alumni Project

In 2024, ScaleChanger teamed up with Orange Corners to dive deeper into their alumni community and roll out some exclusive workshops.

Alumni Community Analysis

Through the Scale Me Up tool, co-designed by ScaleChanger and AFD Campus Group, The Orange Corners alumni got a laser-sharp look at their business’s strengths, opportunities for growth and tailored tips to level up.

Meanwhile, this diagnostic phase and analysis provided by ScaleChanger enabled the Orange Corners team to have a big picture overview on where their alumni stood – helping them better support their journey to greatness in the long run.

Snapshot of the Orange Corners alumni community

• 3 years and counting: most of their alumni kicked off their business adventures around 3 years ago

• Small but mighty teams: at this early stage. 73% of them are leading tight-knit crews of 0–5 employees – with further growth foreseen in the future

• 71% are keeping it local, selling their products or services exclusively in their home country • 58% are earning up to €10,000, 24% are stepping it up with turnovers of €10,000 to €50,000, while the rest are earning even more.

Masterclasses

With the survey results in, the ScaleChanger team was able to jump straight into action mode with 3 masterclasses offered on three hot topics:

  • Internationalisation
  • Fundraising
  • Leadership/HR.

Knowing that so many of their alumni are rocking it in the agriculture sector, ScaleChanger hosted a unique online masterclass on raising funds from international agri-focused funders.

We didn’t just stop at giving participants an overview on international funding opportunities in agriculture – we also brought in some big guns! Two international donors, Rabo Foundation and Anton Jurgens Charitable Trust, spilled the beans on what funders really want to see. Plus, Riches Attai, a Nigerian Orange Corners alumni and also a pro at securing funding from a bunch of sources, shared his ultimate tips and tricks for fundraising success.

The average mark given by participants to the sessions was 4,5/5.

What the alumni really appreciated were the:

  • Variety of format (content, panel, rooms, tools, ..)
  • Quality & level of expertise of the speakers
  • Quality of the masterclasses materials

“The masterclass was very satisfactory because it provided valuable insights and practical knowledge relevant to my entrepreneurial journey. The content was well-structured and addressed key challenges effectively, especially in [specific topic, e.g., international fundraising or leadership]. The facilitators were knowledgeable and engaging, which made the session interactive and informative. Overall, it was a rewarding experience that will help me in scaling my business”

“It was enlightening and I can implement major changes in my business.”

“I learnt a lot of details on fund raising and also learnt a new model to expand my customer reach.”
